Service Description

The term 'forest bathing' is directly translated from 'shinrin-yoku', a term coined by The Japanese, where this practice originated in the 1980's. As the tech boom moved the majority of jobs from the rural outdoors to the bustling concrete jungle of a Tokyo, health officials noticed chronic illnesses became a significant problem. Forest bathing has been used effectively to balance time spent indoors and around electronic devices with a unique healing experience outdoors. In fact, this wellness practice has been widely studied and is proven to support both mental and physical health for people of all ages and backgrounds. Your certified guide will lead you through a series of gentle activities, and take cues from the local environment to help you slow down and reconnect more deeply with yourself and the world around you. It might resemble a guided walking meditation, but instead of clearing the mind, you will be led through various prompts that help open the door to give you exactly what you need the most. We often say, your guide is not a therapist, but through the guided standard sequence, your guide will open the doors, so that you and the forest can do the healing. Although every person experiences something unique, the most common experiences include feeling long-lasting calmness, clarity, creativity, energy and levity. Whatever you experience the most, you will feel the impact in both the body and mind. Additionally, by surrounding yourself in nature, you are essentially bathing in more concentrated levels of oxygen and the protective compounds released by plants, called phytoncides. Just like the protective benefits phytoncides have on plants, they confer a health benefit to humans too. Studies show participants experience better blood pressure, blood sugar, cardiovascular health, and less anxiety, depression and insomnia.
